We left Grimsby at 08:00 and arrived too early to enter Bridlington harbour as it can only be accessed two hours either side of high water. After an impromptu dog overboard practice (see previous post), we were welcomed by a friendly harbour master who tried to take our lines and advised us to tie up securely as we had moored next to the chairman's yacht. We were in for an exciting night as the yacht sank into the mud just before 23:00 and tipped in the mud. An eerie silence engulfed the marina and a good nights sleep was had by all. Bridlington was all we had hoped for - excellent food, superb dog-friendly walks and exceptional Yorkshire hospitality.
🐾 Dog-Friendliness of Bridlington Harbour Marina
Harbour/Marina Policy: Dogs are welcome on visiting boats and pontoons. Svea was very happy sat watching the fishermen come and go.
Facilities: No dog-specific facilities on site (e.g. no bins or enclosed areas on the pontoons), but the town and beach are literally steps away.
Access: The marina is central — excellent access to promenades, beaches, and green spaces. Lovely town with lots of pubs.
Local Attitude: Bridlington is a very dog-welcoming town, popular with dog-owning tourists.

1. Bridlington North Beach & Promenade
Distance: Starts right at the marina
Details: A long stretch of sandy beach and a wide, well-maintained promenade.
Dog Notes:
North Beach is dog-friendly year-round north of the coastguard station.
Promenade is on-lead, but excellent for a scenic walk.
Several waste bins and water taps along the way.
2. Bridlington South Beach
Distance: South of the harbour — just minutes on foot
Details: Broad, flat beach ideal for dog running at low tide.
Dog Notes:
Seasonal restrictions: Dogs are banned from the main South Beach zone (between May 1 – Sept 30) but allowed at the southern end near Wilsthorpe.
Check signage before entering - it is very clear where dogs are and are not allowed.
3. Sewerby Hall & Gardens to Danes Dyke

Dog Notes:
Must be on-lead near cliffs and nesting sites, but large sections of grassland for good walks.
Great for half- or full-day excursions with a fit dog.
